• Preparation: Tincture made from the fresh plant just before it comes into bloom.

Modalities

• Better / Relieved By: Open air, sweating, and exercise in the open air (does not fatigue, improves condition).

• Worse / Aggravated By: Excitement, warmth of bed, night, and coughing.

Key Mental & Emotional Symptoms

• Mood & Temperament: Great irritability, nervous excitement, and over-sensitiveness. Delicate and sensitive. Peevish mood during and soon after dinner, easily offended by others' conversations.

• Unusual Desires: Almost irresistible inclination to sing (after some hours).

• Sleep Disturbances: Sleepless after excitement. Restless at night due to excitement, vivid and anxious dreams, and starting up until after midnight.

General & Physical Symptoms

• Limbs & Joints: Tearing in limbs, bones, and joints. Limbs go to sleep, with numbness and tingling. Stiffness, staggering when walking, and placing one foot over another when walking.

• Nervous System: Nervous, trembling, irritable sensation in the whole body; internal tremor. Concussion of the brain and injuries likely to set up tetanus.

• General Debility: General sensation of debility around noon. Very dry skin with an entire absence of perspiration.

• Stomach & Digestion: Feeling of hunger that prevents falling asleep. Unusual sensation of hunger as if the stomach was not properly filled and satisfied by food (lasting several days). Frequent, very violent hiccough. Frequent emission of noiseless, very warm flatus (often with a "hepatic" odor). Increased discharge of watery urine.

• Skin & Extremities: Itching shootings in different parts. Suppurating grooves in the nails and ingrown nails. Affections of the finger-tips and joints of the toes. Frequent feeling of flushing heat in the face without external redness. Mouldy taste in the throat on hawking or coughing.

Head, Nose, Ears, & Throat Symptoms

• Nose & Catarrh: Tingling and crawling in the nose; must pick it. Sensation in the right nostril as if partly stopped; blowing and sneezing do not remove the obstruction. Side lain on closes. Lumpy discharge, solid chunks from posterior nares, and solid lumps from posterior nares. Anosmia, atrophic catarrh, and nasal polypi.

• Ears & Eyes: Itching of the palate and ears. Otalgia with lancinating pains. Tumor of the lower eyelid.

• Throat & Respiration: Follicular pharyngitis and cough (worse from coughing).

Rectal & Anal Symptoms (Parasites)

• Intestinal Worms: Highly useful in worms and ascarides.

• Intense Itching: One of the strongest characteristics is intense itching at the anus at night (produced by ascarides), preventing sleep, causing the patient to toss and roll all night. Creeping and crawling sensation in the rectum, which is always worse at night from the warmth of the bed.
