Acalypha Indica is a homeopathic remedy derived from the Indian Nettle plant (family Euphorbiaceae), and it is most famous in homeopathic literature for treating severe respiratory conditions involving bleeding.

Primary Uses & Symptoms

  • Hemorrhages (Bleeding):

    • Bleeding is worse in the morning (morning aggravation).

    • Includes rectal bleeding and chest bleeding.

  • Respiratory & Chest:

    • Severe fits of dry cough, which are most violent at night.

    • Cough is followed by spitting up blood.

    • Sputum characteristics: Blood is pure and bright in the morning, but turns dark, lumpy, and clotted in the evening.

    • A constricted feeling around the chest.

    • Constant and severe pain in the chest.

    • Indicated for the early stages of phthisis (tuberculosis).

  • Mental State:

    • Characterized by sadness and mental depression.

  • Digestive & Systemic:

    • Sputtering diarrhea.

    • Progressive emaciation (severe, continuous weight loss).

    • Slow fever.

  • Female Symptoms:

    • Leucorrhoea (vaginal discharge) that alternates between being thick and watery.

Recommended Dose: 30, 200, 1M potency.

Iodium (Iodine)

Iodium is prepared from the chemical element Iodine. In classical homeopathy, it is a major remedy for hypermetabolic states where the glands are affected, and the patient often experiences immense weakness and weight loss despite having a ravenous appetite.

Primary Uses & Symptoms

  • Menstrual Issues (Catamenia):

    • Highly irregular cycles: sometimes too late, sometimes too early.

    • Periods are often premature, violent, and copious (very heavy).

  • Female Reproductive Organs:

    • Atrophy (shrinking/wasting away) of the ovaries and breasts, often accompanied by sterility.

    • Great sensitivity in the right ovarian region during or after menses.

    • Induration (hardening) and swelling of the uterus (with suspicion of uterine cancer).

    • Uterine hemorrhage that is triggered or renewed after every stool (bowel movement).

  • Vaginal Discharge (Leucorrhoea):

    • Discharge is thick, yellow, and burning.

    • Symptoms feel better after eating.

    • The discharge is highly acrid and corrosive—so severe that it corrodes the skin of the limbs and the linen.

    • Profuse flow, which gets worse around the time of menstruation.

  • Breast Symptoms:

    • Breasts are flaccid, relaxed, and atrophied (shrunken).

    • Mammary hyperæsthesia (extreme, painful sensitivity to touch).

    • A sensation of extreme heaviness, as if the breasts would fall off.

    • Acute pain and soreness in the breasts occurring alongside metritis (inflammation of the uterus).

  • Lactation (Nursing) Issues:

    • Galactorrhoea (abnormal, spontaneous milk flow); the milk is thin and watery.

    • Lactation is accompanied by profound weakness and emaciation.

    • Alternatively, milk may be entirely suppressed.
