Preparation and Origins

• Source: Derived from the Spanish fly. The scientific name is Lytta vesicatoria, which is actually an emerald-green blister beetle, not a true fly.

• Active Agent: The active compound responsible for its effects is cantharidin, a blistering agent that is highly toxic in its raw, undiluted form.

• Tincture: Formulated using one part dried insect to five parts alcohol.

• Triturations: Made directly from the powdered insect.
